1 C Judicial Trial Of Courts

The Judge should be appointed by the Crown
that they may not be under the influence of individuals

But Assessors who are designed
by them Judges may be chosen by the People of their
district

The commotion No harm will come from the connections
which the Assessors may have in the country.
For as the Judgement is not theirs but that
of the Judge, they will not be responsible for it:
will not be imputed to them by those to whom it
is adverse. But guard against insinuation whispers & for
- ; by oaths &c.

No man ought to be a judge where he his wife
were born, nor where he or his wife have any landed estate
in immoveable, worth to the value of . . a year.
Striking a Judge

If any one strike or wound a Judge in the setting in Back
execution of his office or through malice conceived against him on account
of any thing done in the execution of his
office his punishment shall be as follows
1. His right hand shall be cut off
2. He shall forfeit the protection of the Law.+ + the execution of punishments.

The effect of an offender'sforfeiting the foundation of the
Law is this: no man can be punished for doing him
any kind of injury.
