The Court of Kings Bench for a course
32 It has been than that of the Kings Bench with its four Judges
of years exhibited a striking proof of the inconvenience
resulting from a multitude of Judges
even in so small a multitude. The most timid
of mankind venturing emboldened every now and then to venture upon
unpopular acts by upon the strength of the
acknowledged integrity of his colleagues. His colleagues
awed + by the habitual deference pardon to that
+by the irresistible ascendancy influence of transcendent abilities superior station to superior talent
station by natural in that station on the part
of three mutes towards the sole speaker into on
submission habits of concurrence with courses an acquiescence with measures which
they inwardly disapproved. Secret dissention
betrayed every now and then by the affectation
of unanimity. The result a violent strong and lasting
measure of discontent venting itself of which the blame rested
altogether upon the Chief, who in the opinion of
those who thought worst of him would have made
an admirable Chan been an ornament to the
Court of Chancery.
