by a devil being present when a parcel of worthless books making rebuking a chattering woman into silence
were torn destroyed by the owners — having handkerchiefs by which when
used, diseases and devils were expelled — diseases being present when a
devils expelled gang or exorcists were bedevilled — in all these instances either the effect itself
amounted to nothing, or the saint was not instrumental in the
production of it.
