Art. Example of the sort of evidence here meant by
collateral evidence are the following
1. Alibi evidence, the effect of which is to prove that they the
person in question the act in question could not at the time in
question have been performed because at that same time he
was in a place far distant from that same place.
2. Character evidence. Evidence by which a general account
or report touching the general character of the person in question
whether in his favour or disfavour is delivered.
3. Scientific evidence. Evidence by which, in virtue of some
supposed peculiar means of inf forming a correct opinion a man
delivers his opinion touching some point which is controversy
between the pursuer and the defendant
4. Statistic or geographic evidence — a modification of
scientific. Evidence already a man in virtue of some
alledged peculiar means of information gives information
touching the law some foreign particular class of persons
or things in the nature in question or touching the geographical
condition, laws, customs and manner of this or that foreign
nation the supposed condition of which happens to have an influence
on the disease touching the matter in dispute.
