If long continued natural
result madness - raving
or melancholy

Of the thoughts in question supposing them really fixt for
any length of time upon so then the object the natural — not to say the
necessary effect would be madness — raving or melancholy
madness in effect which no persons now charged is
suspected of any criminal offence in any stamp has
been and continues to be produced is but too many instances
by these such thoughts

Against sinful thoughts
preservative profit
yielding labour instruction
or amusement

As to sinful action, unless in profit yielding labour
instruction or amusement are as a necessary ingredient, nothing
can be cases then to keep them from it altogether:
and then unless profit yielding labour instruction and announcement
can be carried on without correspondent thought keeping these
by the same mean by which they are kept from sinful action
they may be and will be kept from sinful thoughts.

Vacuum of solitude
replaced by a plenum

If the state of mind to the object of anxiety for producing
a blameless state of mind, the true remedy seems to
be not the producing or rather the endeavour to produce
by means of solitude a vacuum, but on the contrary a pleasure,
a pleasure filled with the three good things abovementioned-thing
of which the goodness of intent will scarcely in any material
grounds be made the subject of dispute
