judicial falshood may
be held to save life or
goods, or for the benefit
of the Bramen: under the
Christian English Code
for the benefit of a man of
law
In Under the Gentoo Code as well as the English Code a distinction is [expressly] taken between
cases in which on the a judicial occasion if fa falshood false evidence statement is not and those in
which it is not allowable: in which falshood may be told and those in which it may not be told it is allowable for example, where exceptions excepted,
the effect object of the falshood is to save a life which by true evidence would
be lost, or the whole of his movables, or "if it is for the benefit of a
"Brama". In the English Christian Code the distinction is more simple. Falshood
may not be told

It is not allowable when it is in for the benefit of the deponent narrator
or any person whom it is his wish to serve by it: it is allowable may be told

veracity and verity on the part of assistances made
on a judicial occasion or for a judicial purpose
may be need to receive sufficient security, by appropriation
punishment without taking in course the name of the Almighty
[in vain on the occasion of the trivial transactions of the
present life.]

That when on a judicial occasion or for a judicial
purpose assertions are received in some instances
with in other instances without (the sanction of a oath)
the security afforded for this veracity by eventual punishment
in case of falshood, the distinction has necessarily
though without the name the effect of a licence to committ
wilful falshood which with which gives under the practice course
hitherto pursued discourse or such excuse and for that
purpose has hitherto been fouled contaminated without mention
and without shame.
