If Oaths & perjury necessary
for the support of religion
let a calculation be made
of the number necessary to
be uttered for that purpose
in a year

In what way c the mendacity licence, used
as a necessary accompaniment or say rather instrument of it the
mendacity licence oaths with the concomitant perjuries are
detrimental to legislative the ends of justice and to all good effect
that can be looked for from legislation have here been seen. If
oaths and perjuries are really as essential to religion as
they hitherto they seem to have so outwardly to have been supposed
to be, an expedient might be found for reconciling their
indispensable support to instrument of no religion with the ends of justice — Let
a calculation be made, mark the number first of the
perjuries necessary to be in every year uttered for this purpose.
Those which by every member of resident at the University of Oxford
are uttered in on every day of his residence, will
be in the first place to be computed, and call by far as they go
will be a reasonable stock to open the account with.

2
The number determined
let them be distributed
among the persons best
fitted for the task

A few drops to be added to the ocean of reverend perjuries will be furnished
by the Just perjuries committed by the nolo-institution of Parochial
Schools. Calculation with its labour will not here be needed,
the number the exact number is already upon record.

The number being determined, nothing would remain
but the distribution of the as yet unsupplied number among
the persons and classes of persons whose salutations in life [in
character.] best fitted them presented them as best qualified for so necessary a
task
