Here then we have four separate & distinguishable distinct masses of advantage of
reaped by the lawyer by from every mass of penny of factitious expence
added by him to the natural expence naturally attendant
on the system of procedure: is to immediate pecuniary profit, viz,
the amount of the profit extracted by him out of that expence from
the suits which it has not had the effect of preventing the number of profit yielding suits remaining the same: 2. by the
amount of non-profit yielding suits prevented by it. 3. pecuniary
profit, produced in a less immediate way, by the productive amount of encrease in the number of profit yielding suits,
full oppressive suits, mala fide demands and malâ fide defences,
suits produced by the ma of law by selling the faculty
of oppression to every wrongdoer who finding his adversary in destitution
of the faculty of resistance, is able to and willing to come up to the make the purchase
renders price to benefit convenience of acting in pleasant :
the avoidance of the inconvenience convenience of not being troubled by
company.

Were the technical Were the technical system a composition cast , in all
together in one mass, at one and the same time, and by one and the
same had, it might be matter of argument question and discussion how far in the modelling framing
of it the contemplation of the 2d and 3d of those advantages respectively
may have been added to that of the first: but how opposite to this
supposition the real state of things the case has been, is pretty well sufficiently known notorious.

Be this as it may, two three propositions will be equally clear –
One is that as to all three points of advantage the sinister interest
of the framers of the system in all ages could not have been better served by
the most refined and perspicacious policy than they would have been
by a blind obsequiousness to the dictates of the blindest avarice.
How fatal must that plan of mischief be, to which can not be made to fail by any degree of improvidence or mismanagement
on the part of the hands employed in the framing or execution
of it.

Another is that whether the case on the one hand part and the lucrative oppression
on the other were or were not distinctly present in the view of
the previous compact executed in the framing of the system, these effects abominations they can not
at any time have been a secret to any of the persons who at any
time have had any part share bear any part in the conduct of it.
