Evidence

1... That in respect of its their authors and its their cause, those enormities
can not with propriety be imputed to the class Attorneys:

2. because they the mischief is produced in far greater
quantity by legal, than by any illegal, practice.

3. That in respect of individuals, there is no one individual,
to whom more than another it can with propriety be imputed.

4. But that in respect of classes of persons, it has
in the whole of its enormous amount been produced by the
class of Judges of professional Judges lawyers, who placed in the station of
Judges, produced by their design and artifice, their imbecillity, or
their negligence.

4. That at present, if it were imputable to any class of
persons more than to another, it would be imputable to this
same exalted class of lawyers, insomuch as by their continued exertions,
could any such exertions be reasonably expected, it might at
any time in proportion to the exertions, be lessened and at length by
their exertions and influence be removed.

5. But That from any such quarter , any such exertions to any
considerable effect, would be inconsistent with the known principles
of human nature, and with all as testified by uniform experience.

6. That from any such quarter nothing but the as to any effectual and extensive
place for the lessening of this mischief, from any such
quarter, nothing but short of the most determinate and strenuous
opposition can rationally be looked for: which opposition will
naturally be the more strenuous, the more extensive and efficient the remedy.
