Evidence
That as in relation to any well-adapted plan which that at any
time might come to be brought forward for the remedying all this mischief,
all whatever substantial objections, as well substantial are plausible
the plan in its nature lay exposed to, might with
the best grounded confidence be expected, the Judges, as well as of other hands of lawyers
of all classes: to which objections all proper consideration and weight ought of
course and could not fail to be allowed by the legislature, according to their respective values.
But that, as in regard to authority as derived from situation, or
even presumption of professional knowledge and wisdom, no degree
of weight whatsoever can with propriety or consistency be allowed
to any arguments coming from any such quarter; coming
from a class of men whose interests are perpetually and under the technical system in a state
of perpetual and irreconcilable hostility with the interests of all the rest and
residue of mankind other classes.
