General Survey I fix upon the place of a man's residence
for the time being as the place for him to be
marked at, as being a place about which there
could be no dispute. This would not always be
the case with the regard to the place at which
his family was settled, a place which on oth
could it be always ascertained would in other
respects be the most eligible. of This latter place
however mention might be made in the registry
where circumstances admitted of it.
The list of the houses in a ward or
hamlet would not long be accurate. Some Old ones
would be pulled down, new ones would be
built. Some Several would be consolidated into one: one: others would
be divided into several. On this and other accounts
the number that happen'd to be given to the each house
at the commencement of the institution would
not be a designation sufficiently precise
Let then the place of the houses every houses which
happen to be standing at the time be at dawn
precisely in the mass of the hamlet or ward. In
