Cadastrial Parochial Maps
Make one for Battersea
Parish, to serve
as a specimen and
pattern.
The Map being divided
into Squares
each Square distinguished
by a letter†, these
Squares will serve as
a permanent system
of nomenclature; and
standard of reference
for conveyances
† Letters not numerous
enough – Arabic
system viz. numbers
Roman or upright
one way of the Map
Station or leaning
the other way.
Make it on the
scale which would
serve best for a common
and universal one.
The scale might
be magnified for
towns – suppose –
here it were to
be 1/12 inch to
a foot, as in
buildings land is
reckoned and valued
per foot.
Examples the
Map of France
on the largest scale –

a Mile.

would be a very discernible
quantity on
Paper.
Large Parishes may
be divided for this
purpose into E. W.
N. & South, or into
with exclusion of
one or two of these
divisions according
to the shape of the
Parish, as in the
Yorkshire Ridings.
