Accessory belonging to it, we shall call it a
Single Offence: If we speak of it as having such,
we shall call it, whether it be principal or Accessory,
a [+] [+] associated or concatenated Offence: If of an united System
of Principal & Accessory, a chain of Offences.
To take a Case already mentioned, the
Business of Coining, for an Example of such a
Chain — The Principal Offence, as we have
just observed, is that of the putting off the Counterfeit
Coin — An Accessory of the first Remove
may be conceived to be the Attempt to put it off,
i,e, the offering it to any one as good knowing it to
be base // — An Accessory of the second Remove, the
having it in one's Possession knowing it to be base —
An Accessory of the third Remove, the fabricating of it
— An Assory of the 4th Remove, the making
or mending of any such Tools fit only for that
purpose — Accessory of the 5th Remove, the
having in one's of any such Tools knowingly in
one's Possession: And an Accessory of the 6th
Remove would be the mending of such other Tools
