in itself is simple and [one] uniform —
But the Christian Religion — any Religion,
as to its effect, is to each man
what that man makes of it.
If therefore according to the notions of the dictates of it,<add>[+] [+] as of any Religion such as they are</add>
to be in the notions of most men, turn
out to not to be conformable to the dictates
of utility, the effect of that Religion is
so far, not conformable to the dictates of
Utility — The Religion is so far not un-conducive
to present happiness —

of such notions being entertained of it, then
is produced there is unhappiness prevented in
virtue of the sum of the influence which it has towards
the preventing of notions mischievous &
promoting acts beneficial to the Society
it is upon the whole unconducive to human

present happiness.
All Panegyrics therefore on a Religion, in
the of it's holiness, that is of its purity utility [for holiness in any other sense
has no meaning is void of] however just so ever, &
to other purposes how pertinent soever,
are misapplied to this.
