The Directory part brought in a second time involved with the
Sanctional. In this case The Directory is the ordinary form of
a Catagorical proposition - then comes the Sanctional in form of
an Hypothetical one of which the Directory part repealed over
again is the Anticedent, & the Sanction itself the consequent.

Example Directory part Categorical.
"Front walls must be coped with either Stone or Tile or
"Brick"—[& nothing else]

Sanction in the proper form
— "on penalty of £50."

Sanction part in the Redundant or Hypothetical form—
"and if any such wall be coped with any thing besides Stone
"or Tile or Brick [Anticedent containing the Directory part—
"repealed] The Builder shall forfeit £50"—[Consequent-
containing what is properly the Sanction.

This Example supposes a single Directory part followed immediately
by a single Sanctional: But the usual manner in
which this vitiosity shews itself is by collecting a number directory part
in a String i=e. so many as have the same sanction, after
which come the Hypothetical Sanctional part with the anticedents
in a string correspondent to that of the Directory parts closed
by the Sanction in form of a single universal clause consequent
to them all. As if it were (after a number of correspondent
directory clauses) "If any Front Wall be coped with any thing
besides Stone or Tile or Brick, or if . . . . . or if . . .
& so on, the Builder shall forfeit £50."

Now this is the case with the Builder's Act ++12.G.3.73. (among others)
which furnished me with this example The 10th. Section is a
recapitulation sometimes re-iterating indentically sometimes —
referring back to almost every thing [but not quite, & there is
another mischief,] in the former nine.

He who proceeds in this manner uses repetition, which begets
prolixity: & runs the risk of a variance which begets confusion.
