BURGLARY Primary or direct mischief
In Italy &c. it should
be Burglary (Light excepted
at the time of the Siesta.
The immediate objects of this mischief crime are all the persons in a house: in which
view the mischief to the immediate objects may be according to the courses competition of
5 persons to a house, be said to be in general 5 times as great as that of a robbery
on a highway — I do not build any thing upon the exactness of the number
but under this view of it, every body comprehends the immediate mischief of the one
be some number of times greater or at least greater that of the other.

Add to this, that the confusion incident to the time of the a guilty transaction carried on at such
