2. C Of Irreparable Personal Injuries. Exposition.

[(A) Compleat] As if a man be rendered totally unable
to move one of his arms, or be rendered quite blind.

[(B) Incompleat] As if a man be rendered unable so hurt in a one of his arms, as not to move one it but
with difficulty: or in the eyes so as not to see so distinctly as before.

A member of the body, what [(C) Member] 1. A Member or organ of the body is
any part thereof which has either separate motions distinguishable
from those of other parts that are contiguous
to it or other specific functions (AA): such as have belong
to the several organs of the senses.

The members liable to be disabled either perfectly
or imperfectly are principally as follows;
1. The Eyes; being the organ of vision.
2. The Nose; viz, the internal Nose or the organ of Smell.
3. The Ear; viz, the internal Ear or the organ of Hearing.
4. The Tongue; being an organ of speech and mastication;
as also one of the organs of Taste.
5. The Palate; and in general the inside of the mouth being another
organ of Taste.
6. The Hands; and in general any portion of the upper
Extremities amounting to one or more Joints. 7
