Real
Things are either real or personal.
Things personal are Chattels p.63 and Chattels of the two sorts of those
personal things called Chattels the first is Chattels real, the
other Chattels personal. Such is Blackstone's Logics – the
result of his skill in the branch of that art-and-science.
This would have been synonymous to Abracadabra but
for the recourse he finds himself under the necessity of making to the
only natural source and mode of Science. Chattels real
he thereupon informs us certain as quantities of interest in things
immoveable: while Chattels personal are things not in "moveable"
themselves.
No trifling matter of practice is this same distinction
between Things real and Chattels real. Comparison had
with Things real Chattels whether real or personal are of
no value. Now als Such the position: now the practical
inference. An interest continuing during life estate for life though it be
not for a man's own life but for anothers is comparatively valuable:
however sure of expiring the before the day is at
an end may be that same life. An estate for a thousand
years in the very same subject matter portion of Land whatever it
may be is comparatively valueless and is accordingly disposed
of without ceremony.
