T'was out of this darkness the Court of Session gather'd that
conclusion whereby they thought the Justices within their Jurisdiction
entitled to the benefit of the protection extended
by 24.G.2.6.44. that Breast-plate to upright Magistrates
The House of Lords sitting as Judges after the matter
had travelled to them, thought otherwise: may it be
permitted to ask whether their Lordships had been
a little before as explicit in declaring such their thoughts -
while sitting as Legislators, it might only not have been better?
