I do not repine – I never have repined, that libel law has never been
sought has not been found by me.

Show us our rights that we may enjoy them: show us
our obligations that we may fulfill them: show us your
laws that we may obey them .. in an enlightened period of society. This surely is no unreasonable
language request wish for a nation to entertain: this surely
is no Such is the wish my friends which has
glowed in my bosom from early youth for little less than half a century: such is
the wish I would implant in yours. This surely is no
undutiful language from a people to its sovereign: this and
no other is the wish language which I would see hear you hold
to yours.
