23 Decr 1806

There go months after months. After that comes a Posteà,
of which if constructed upon the scale of the prior antecedent
proceeding, it seems easier to imagine conceive the continuation
thence the end. Of this continuation one part, though but
one part is that which is given to it by the 9th
Resolution, and which indeed it would have been inconsistent
with justice to have refused: – competency to parties
fewer
liberty to complain of the Verdict (and the complaint certainly not
meant to be in vain) as being having been "given contrary to evidence, or
"by misdirection of the Judge, in the sitting as Ordinary,
or on the Circuit, or presiding in the Chambers:
those sources of misdirection or unfounded complaint of misdirection in Scotland, for one in England.
