Scotch Reform To Ld Grenville

The column of natural denomination would be a sort
forming a line to the several tables columns of technical denominations
would be a sort of mass of the name jurisprudence, constructed according with from
the degree of light to the lights corresponding to the advances made by the human
intellect in other branches of human knowledge: it
would be to jurisprudence what a mass of Great Britains
drawn from the measurements of General Roy† † Quere continuation? will be to Geography.
Any one of those columns of technical denominations
would be seen to be to jurisprudence what a map of the world
such as Ptolemy or Pliny would have drawn it in their days,
or such as a Chinese or Japanese would draw it in these
days or such as may be seen in the Nuremberg Chronicle of 1493 is days would be to Geography. Immense voids such as are
still obliged to left by necessity in the Maps of Africa or America: for
offences of the most different nature and description in the English column nothing but
an everlasting repetition of trespass, trespass.

On the present occasion I could not help conceiving
that a Table of this sort might be formed to have its
convenience to any eye howsoever able and well exercised,
placed in the position situation which in the present Your Lordship found it necessary
to assume. Such a Table I had accordingly begun endeavouring was begun upon
to construct, and had the state of my eye sight permitted,
might perhaps ere now have been completed gone through with: – as it is I must
for the present at least beg your Lordship's acceptance of
the will for the deed. As it is those few general hints may
as far as they go reach, serve for some more favourable time,
or some more competent less incompetent hand.
