of one sort of some kinds of structures
& restr

on other sorts, are
devised for the sake
of creating motives dispositions
in the persons concerned
to adopt to the
one in preference to the other
as under the most effectual way of doing
this is by exhibiting
those motives in as
clear distinct & striking a
view as possible
HUSBANDRY
§ 2 & 3
Carriages used in Husbandry or carrying only manure
for Land, Hay, Straw, Fodder, Corn unthreshed, or Manure
for Land are exempted from all excepted out of the restrictions imposed on others concerning
Weight by § 1.
HUSBANDRY
§ 22.
Carriages Carts with no other than the loading that those above
specified, or with than Implements of Husbandry have
the benefit of exemptions granted to them by particular
Acts continued to them as heretofore notwithstanding § 22
CARTS 6 INCH
§ 20, 21.
Six-inch--wheeled Carts are not included subject to the encreased exempted from the additional
rate of Toll (viz. half as much again as the ordinary original rate)
imposed on other Narrowwheeled Carriages.
CARTS 6 INCH
Six-inch-wheel'd Carts, so as they be drawn by no more
than 2 Horses or what is equivalent, may continue
to take the benefit of exemptions from Toll granted by particular
Acts on account of particular Kinds of loading.
ROLLING 16
INCHES
Carriages rolling 16 Inches may any where have their wheels
at any distance from each other notwithstanding § 7.

ROLLING 16 INCHES
Waggons rollings 16 Inches shall, within 100 Miles from
London pay but half as much as common Broadwheeled
Waggons: [and the like of Carts.]

§ 2.
To Carriages rolling 16 Inches restrictions regulations concerning
weight or distance of the wheels shall not extend.
BROAD-WHEELED
§ 20, 21.
The Tolls for Broadwheeled Carriages shall be but two remain as it is
thirds of that by <add>under each particular Act granting appointing them, while that</add> for Narrow wheeled is raised to half as
much again.

Broadwheeled Waggons may carry 6 Tons: Broad-wheeled
Carts 3.
§ 8
The number of Horses (and in proportion of other Beasts)
allowed to Broadwheeled Waggons Carriages is for Waggons
8: for Carts, 5.
§ 19
Extraordinary Tolls, calculated to operate as Prohibitions,
which by any particular Turnpike Act are imposed on
carriages of burthen drawn by more than a certain number
of Beasts specified, shall be taken off from those with
broad-wheels, in such manner that Waggons shall not
pay more than what has been payable in virtue of the
particular Act in question for Waggons drawn by 4
Horses, nor Carts, than what has been payable for Carts
with 3.

§ 22
Broad-wheeled Carriages shall continue to take the benefit
of exemptions from Toll by particular Acts granted
on account of particular kinds of loading, notwithstanding
§ 22
§ 5
Tolls Broadwheeled Carriages of Burthen alone shall alone henceforth be allowed
to be compounded for.
§ 7
If any Broad-wheeled carriage of Burthen (except
such as roll 16 Inches) pass on any Turnpike beyond 1
the2 distance3 of 4 20 5 Miles 6 from 7 London 8, with the wheels
of any pair distant from each other more than
4 feet 6 Inches measured on the ground: or with
any wheel distant from the next to it on the same
side (except in Carriages used on for drawing
Timber) more than 9 feet measured on the ground from the center
of the Axle- at their ends the Driver [owner]

shall forfeit £5.
Whoso alters the distance between the Wheels of any
Broadwheeled carriage of burthen in order to evade
the penalty shall forfeit £5
So long as any one hindereth the measuring of
the wheels of any carriage of burthen not exempted
it shall not be permitted to pass onwards.

Half as much again shall be paid by way of ordinary
Toll for narrow-wheeled carriages of Burthen (except
for 6-inch-wheeled Carts drawn by no more
than 2 Horses or what is equivalent) as for Broad-wheeled.

Narrow-wheeled Waggons, least they spoil the track
which Broad-wheeled Waggons used by passing on it
heavy laden shall not be drawn by Beasts in pairs
with any other lading than Fish Flesh or Fowl.
