To be copied Before we proceed to examine our author's
account of municipal law, it may be proper
to stop a moment, and take a review of the —
arguments he has advanced, and the principles
he has laid down in the preceding part
of his introduction.
Our author sets out by defining law
to be a rule of conduct presented
by a superior, Law therefo& while theinferior
is bound to obey. According to this
definition Law must be something
obvious to ourselves, declared &
notified thus in a manner
perceptible to our selves. It
must likewise be adapted to beings
who have a power of asking or of
