INTRODUCTION. MAXIMUMS. Brevity. Certainty &c.

BREVITY is at it's maximum when &c.

The maximum of Brevity is attained, when no one can take away
either absolutely or with substitution Any Title from the Code any Law from the Title, any Sentence from the Law, any proposition clause from the sentence
any word from the phrase any word from the proposition without
exempting or altering some subject matter taking away some modification nor substitute
or adding effecting a new one, taking away a retraction or adding a
new one exempting a denomination of person or subjecting a new one.

The maximum of Precision, Perspicuity when as to what regards single
expressions, Terms. when every one which is used is has been discharged of
Lenses (of those which with any meaning sense can be indifferently applied to it) which it may have over & above that one which it is designed
to convey

As to what regards the Grammatical structure of Sentences, when
the respective each Relation is exclusively appropriated to it's intended Antecedent
Each Adjective to it's substantive each Noun to it's Nominative
& accusative case.

The maximum of Certainty That every man may do, that which no Law forbids him to do. when each topic of controversy is
closed by a it's proper provision .... when a direction Post is set up at
every branching of the Road. & &c

When each every Judge has laid down to himself as a maxim an inviolable maxim never
to be departed from, that under no pretences of Mercy, hardship to be obviated of Improvement,
of substantial Justice, he depart from the Letter natural
import of the Law.

The maximum of Notoriety, when each man has the greatest facility
possible of knowing [the most possible] of that which he has
the greatest Interest to know, & so in proportion.
