What I call [ ] the pleasure of enjoyment, may be called agreeably
to Mr Hume's Nomenclature, a
pleasure of impression — A pleasure of
expectation, a pleasure in idea.
Tho' [ ] I remained hungry and under a pain of sufferance if I had had wherewithal
of money to buy me bread, I should have
had a pleasure of expectation, which might
or might not balance my pleasure pain of sufferance
If with my money in my pocket & the
power of going to buy bread, I refrained from
it notwithstanding, so long as I refrained
from it, it was a sign because either that pleasure
of expectation or some other pleasure or the
fear of some other pain equal at the least to
the pain of sufferance kept me where
I was
