INTRODUCT. CH. II. Dimensions of Happiness. [BR][7]

INTRODUCTION. DIMENSIONS of HAPPINESS.

essence of Body; compounded of Longitude Length Latitude Breadth & profundity. Depth Happiness not to be up privately in one subject ............. may be stiled its triple dimension
Where I speak therefore of it Wherever therefore I have occasion to use the word & consider include in it the Idea unless when I as
myself to the contrary is proof under this threefold dimension: just as Natural Philosophers when they speak
of the momentum of a body include in that term the Ideas of it's velocity and
it's Mass.

NOTE. conclusion The greater is the Happiness of any Society is the greater equally the more it's instruments are can be divided — A maxim of extensive great latin application & of great importance, as & which like all others of extensive great latitude may be abused There are x reasons of universal application why this equality can never take place in its be come absolute utmost rigor

An imminent French Philosopher in whose works I was surprized to find anticipated this ........
has fallen upon been led by &c into a conclusion in prejudice of the condition of Human nature as false false
as it is uncomfortable that there is no man who does not taste experience beyond comparison more of
Happiness than of misery —

You & I have each our pleasure: if mine lasts as much longer than your's, as yours'
is greater than mine while it lasts, they are both equal.
This State has a Million of Inhabitants: the next has a Million likewise — there are the
twenty Million of degrees of happiness to be divided distributed in each State: If the division
be such that in this, each man has his ten degrees, in the other each man except one one man has ten Millions based in his 5
has 5, & no more & that one the remaining ten Millions, [Still] the 'Law of Happiness in each State
is equal — the one State is to be approved of as much as is the other.

A moment's consideration will satisfy any one enable any on to perceive that the antecedent in this last supposed
which I have put for the sake of argument) can never be true: & this imperception suggesting itself in an implicit
manner will be apt to prejudice most men against the consequence: which notwithstanding is rigorously of this is one instance among so many then of this falshood or the laxity of the logical metaphysical anxious, that the effect is proportioned to it's cause.
