PUNISHMENT — Castration. it's Notoribility
Castration for Rape bears so close is an instance of that natural
aptitude for Notoriety of which we have observed that
some Laws are to be susceptible + v. Notoriety intrinsic. as it bears so close
a relation to the crime, that the slightest notice is
sufficient to fix it in the memory in manner as to be beyond danger
of being forgotten.

RAPE CASTRATION.
No Argument against making
Castration the punishment for Rape
because after having been adopted
in our barbarous age, it was disused
in another — desertion was
once punished by cutting off the
Ears & slitting of the Nose; which was afterwards or very
absurdly, weakly as Montesquieu very
sensibly observes changed into Death — Pr. P. L. 184.

RAPE PUNISHMENT.
RAPE. The Punishment of a Woman accomplice in
Rape, might be the cutting off her nose, loss of nose being
a punishment the tendency of which, as that of Castration
to man, is to deprive her of those enjoyments
which she has been the Instrument of abusing, by
rendering her an object of disgust.
