entertain ing the interval between Death the fatal Stroke for the years of enjoyment: in sentiment of the however which may be supposed to be in good measure absorbed & smothered in their corporal sensation pain which he
loses by it as well as the misery he actually undergoes
which he is apt to consider as clear & gratuitous, the
portion pain which he according to the common course of nature
must have accompanied his dissolution, at what so
ever future period it should have happened, not being
as may be supposed under such circumstances attended to and taken into the
account — But this source of misery evidently does has plainly no
not exist existence in the case before us.
It is a pretty obvious objection, tho' one easily answer'd the answer seems equally so

It may here be objected, that by this analysis I
explain away all the mischief misery attending the Crime, of Murder in general
2d Objection that secrecy may — the guilt. and consequently according to any principles as for all the guilt of it; for since
the misery of the immediate object of the Crime is there made
out to be nothing or next to nothing; the misery also
of those related the secondary objects to the primary object should therefore
be nothing inconsiderable as consisting in the mere prospect
of a misery which itself made is theirs out by this argument
to be inconsiderable. That the terror of an inconsiderable evil can be but small.
