4. A deputy? Yes:
because it has not been
in their power to depute
to delegate any body else

If he be a deputy of the people or of any part of the
people it is because it has not been in their power
to depute any body else: if he be a delegate of the
people or of any part of the people, it is because it has
not been in their power to delegate any body else.

Deputy or delegate
neither a title he
assumes, but for argument,
and when he
can not help it.

Deputation being matter
of fact the word presents
some act with
its circumstances
viz. Member's
want of freedom &c

But neither deputy nor delegate is the sort of
title which he assumes voluntarily and spontaneously
the sort of title he assumes but for the purpose of the argument,
and when he can not help it.

Deputation is matter of fact, it is a determinate
individual act, which, the mode and circumstances
of it considered is of a sort which it suits not
his purpose to hold up to view. Presenting to view as it
does the idea of an act it presents at the same time
the idea of the relatively few small number of those
who bear a part in it, and the want absence of honest
freedom from every thing that they step they do.

Thus it is with deputation, thus it is with its
synonym delegation likewise

Representation a
more convenient word.
The act &c are kept
out of it sight by
it. Fiction — offspring

any person or thing
may be represented
by any other.

Representation is a much more convenient word.
It brings with to view any such act, or nor any sort of act
It is a mere way of speaking. It is the offspring of lawyer
craft — a mere fiction. No imaginable object, be it
a person be it or a thing, but what in some way or other
in some sense or other may be made, may be said, may
be made to represent, to be the representation of, any other.
