The fallacy being a
question consists
in the endeavour to
cause gullible men
on the occasion of
the question quid
faciendum
to determine
on the ground
of the irrelevant circumstantial
evidence
of authority in preference
to or to the exclusion
of direct and
relevant do.

Ulterior of that class of arguments or instruments
of persuasion termed fallacies and those political fallacies on constitutes
the occasion on which it becomes a question whether
(on the subject of an opinion in the way of approbation
or disapprobation to be passed on this or that any given system
of conduct, being the system of conduct in question)

authority, from this or that source, ought to be considered
as forming, to the the exclusion of or in preference to
an a more direct & specific argument directed to the proving in a more direct
and specific manner the ground which there is supposed
to be for the passing
an opinion in the way of approbation
or disapprobation on the system of conduct (political
conduct)
in question: viz. in such sort as that to constitute
a just
in a case where on the ground of specific
and direct evidence (authority out of the question) there is ground reason sufficient for
providing considering the title of the proposed system of conduct in question
to be taken for the subject of an opinion of approbation,
as being a good title whether on the ground of authority upon — viz on the
ground of that species of circumstantial evidence
which is capable of being afforded by authority, there

can be reason sufficient (reference being made relation being had to the situation
of the person or persons by whom the opinion is to be formed
and pronounced and acted upon) to regard the title of that same
system of conduct to be taken for the subject of an opinion
of approbation as being a bad title.
