8 They are not to play at to abstain from any game at which
men play for money: in particular any sort of game in which
dice or cards are employed.

9 They are to abstain from all sports and exercises
in which dogs, guns, or nets are employed.

10 When At the Assizes or Quarter Sessions are held not one of
them is they are not to "presume" to be present p. 170, on penalty
thrice as great as for being caught in a bawdy-
-house: not to speak of arbitrary punishment at the
pleasure of the Vice Chancellor or the Proctors, if the
Offender be an Undergraduate.

11 Great stress as may be imagined is laid on the
article of cloaths: the colour for all degrees is to
be either black or brown (niger unt subfusic) p. 165.
Boots are proscribed as "absurd and factuous".
Not to speak speak of Gowns, all who upon
this foundation are ordered to wear square caps,
all who are not on a foundation round caps.
In the nett of this Statute, servitors only excepted, all no one of
those who who are not on a foundation wear square ones. wear any cap but a square one.

12 The catalogue might be continued without end

abundance being violated — by Undergraduates and
Graduates, by non-Reverends and Reverends, continually
