When a thing sort of either class is recognized to be bad,
to be meet for reprobation, the idea of a sentiment of displeasure
is by the principle of association called forth by at the mention
of the name. This sentiment is attached in the first instance
towards to the thing itself: but from thence it passes on immediately
and insensibly to all such persons between whom and
that same thing any relation of a certain kind has place

Suppose the thing in question a thing which sort of mode of action which
in consequence of the advantage which they see in so doing
Take for example t
a certain the class of persons in question are habitually engaged in the
practice of in practising or upholding supporting. Suppose this
thing to be a bad thing: i.e. a thing prejudicial to the
universal interest: being universally generally understood to be so
the name by which the idea of it is called up has acquired
the nature and character of a bad name: attached to
the idea of the thing itself the sentiment of approbatio disapprobation
passes on from thence to the idea of the each person who is regarded
as engaged in the practice or support of it.

A man the man in question is seen to be engaged in the practice or support
of it: he wishes of course to withdraw himself from the
displeasure which by means of the bad name is attached to
him by whom the mode of conduct so denominated is seen
to be practised or supported. What shall To save himself escape from
this unpleasant situation what course does he take? Answer:
As often as he has occasion to bring the practice in view He looks out for some other name, which being in possession of
bring to view that same practice is not yet in possession of bringing calling forth
to view along with it the same sentiment of displeasure
