Now, with a degree
of certainty proportioned
to his merits may
a man whose endeavour
it is to render
service to his country

being unfortunately
out of use) be covered
with reproach or
ridicule.

Now is the time when with a degree of success
proportioned to the goodness of his ends and the
wisdom of his means, the man who whatsoever individual whosoever aims at
uses his endeavours to render in the field of law
and government any signal service to the his country
or and to mankind, may in default of fire and
faggot — instruments of punishment unhappily no
longer in fashion — be devoted to hatred or
contempt covered with ridicule reproach or ridicule.

Now is the time when it may even be objected
to a man as a crime, that he dared to speak

of virtue and or happiness than is at present the moment to be
found in it. This heresy of yours it is the same
that was maintained by Priestly, Godwin, G Condorcet
and other Socinians Atheists Jacobins and Atheists
and Jacobins and Anarchists. Therefore you are
an anarchist such as they were as well as they: and as such,
though unhappily in this age of corruption and
general relaxation you can not be punished, you
ought as strenuously as possible to be opposed vituperated
and hated.
