§. Jumping-concluder's or Chain of reasoning suppressors
fallacy or device

The applicability of this fallacy is confined to the
case in which by a newly exhibited process of
reasoning, some new truth position which is at once new as
well as useful has been brought to light or confirmed

It consists in the bringing to view the position in a naked
and unsupported state: care being taken either to give no
representation at all or to give nothing but a misrepresentation
and that as injurious as possible of the considerations observations
by which in the character of reasons the position
has been supported. To the generality of In the eyes of men the novelty
of the position will suffice to present it in the character
of an erroneous one: and not improbably unfrequently with more or less probability
in such degree and sort and degree erroneous or to wear
the appearance of being absurd enough to be ridiculous. Thereupon
