From such a variety of articles, and of such articles,
brought together many are the reflections observations that can not
but present themselves to a mind at all used to render
an account to itself of its own thoughts.

One subject for speculation is the nature and design, the rise and
progress of the various free Societies, whose proceedings
thus offer themselves to public view. All these will
present themselves – at one view.

Societies for the having thereby for their object.
What are the proper objects of public free charity in
general? What of compulsory charity – what of
public though free though public charity – what of
private charity on the part of individuals, in whose
which the right hand does not or needs not know
what is done by the left.

Among charities – all of them proper & unexceptionable and
more or less useful – what is the scale of utility –
what the order of preference.
