The Prisoners pay Garnish when they are on board?
None is paid or demanded.
When the men are sick I don't object to
their friends bringing them food, such as Milk, Greens,
&c
Those that died were buried at first along the
shore: since I have a piece of ground behind
the Butts where they are now buried. The Burial
service is read by one of my Officers.
I am generally on board about twice a
week & I stay the whole day. I say every part
of the Vessel, except the Hospital.
There are Boys on board too young for Labour:
I have thoughts of employing them in picking
of oak- – I think they mostly came from
Hick's Hall.
There is one man quite blind on board, which
can't be employ'd at all.
I employ the Boys as Cabbin and Swobbing-Boys
The Convicts may wear their own cloaths of
choice: if they don't choose it I cloath them.
Our cloathing is a Heavy jacket, worsted stockings,
a cap and shoes.
I don't allow them to buy cloathes; if their
friends bring them some I permitt it.
I allow them shirts.
They are obliged to shift every Sunday: they
may wash themselves every day: some do, others do
not.
There is an Hospital in each Ship. The healthy
