Board the Justitia is not so high but is widened
Six fot fet feet.
The Healthy People cant go to the Sick. A Man
stands to prevent them – the Sick & well are
kept seperate.
Would it be better if the Hospital was on
Board a seperate Ship.
No doubt but it would.
The Sick are allowed every thing what the
Surgeon orders. even so much as Wine. I
apprehend Mr. Campbell pays for it. I went
merely upon Principles of Humanity to do all the
good to they these People I could. I am Surgeon
General to the Artillery. The Friends of the Sick
are not allowed to come on Board only upon
extraordinary Occasions.
I have seen the Convicts at Dinner & have
askt the Captain how much they were allowed
& he told me 5lb & 1/2 of Beef & 5lb & 1/2 of Bread a
Day to a of Six. I saw it weighed.
Upon an Average the Sick have lessened in
both Hospitals – there are 9 Sick now (the 31st
March). No person attending them has caught
the fever since I have attended, if there had I
should have known it.
Its impossible for them to have more Air than
they have.
The Diet of the Sick cant be amended & they
are kept clean & neat.
