it is for the sake of pleasure that it has been is withdrawn
from industry.

This obstacle does not apply to a state of bondage.
In this state the workman time of the workman is not
at his own disposal: it is at the disposal of his
master. The very nature of the institution requires it
to be made the most of: and no reason can be given
why any part of it should be thrown away. The
enjoyment wellbeing satisfaction of the workman is here perhaps no part object
at any rate out of the principal object of the institution:
yet after all it may not unfrequently be the result. What a man
loses in one way, he may gain in another: what
he loses in point of liberty and amusement be may
again be for made up to him and much more than
made up to him in health. One great likeness he is
sure of: a perpetual lasting exception from the miseries of
drunkenness

Liberty, perfect absolute liberty is incompatible
with society and repugnant to mans nature. The first
