Certificate of Reformation and Good-Behaviour from the Governor
of the General Panopticon Penitentiary House, in favour of A.P. quondam Penitentiary
Man therein, under the General Panopticon Penitentiary Act 34. Geo: 3. ch.

This is to certify whom it may concern —

1. That on the day of [Month Year] the said A.P. was committed to this Establishment.
2. That now on this present day he is discharged therefrom.
3. That under the discipline thereof his behaviour is become diligent, orderly, & unexceptionable.

4. That he has testified his sorrow for his past offences & his resolution henceforward
to lead the life of a good & honest member of society.

5. Believed sincere -

5. That in such his declaration I do to the best of my judgment believe him to be
sincere. Witness my hand

in King's Service -

In the case of an engagement in either branch of his Majesty's service may be
added as follows —

6. That being ambitious of engaging in his Majesty's service by land in the [Corps] or
by sea on board the [Ship] should he be thought worthy of being received into the
Company of brave & honest defenders of thier Country he has requested of me a testimonial
of his good behaviour as a step towards his attainment of that honour: and it is with
pleasure that I find myself warranted by truth and bound in justice to give him accordingly
this Certificate.

saying only instead of [ambitious] [desirous] [honour] and instead [advantage]
