IX Friendly Guardian.

Panopticon Bill

will to the extent of the penalty of this my Bond make pecuniary amends for any damage
occasioned by such offence or offences: and that whether the party so damnified be an individual
or only the public at large, and whether the damage be of a pecuniary nature or not,
including moreover consequential as well as direct damage.

4. On or before the expiration of this my year of Guardianship, I will, if my said
Ward be then alive, either renew this Bond for the year ensuing or by myself or Agent
surrender up the body of my said Ward (unless by sickness he be then incapable of being
removed without danger) to the Governor or his Representative at the Metasylum
-

5. If the said A.W. be living, I will also then & there cause to be paid to
the Governor or his Agent as aforesaid the sum of [£ S d] as and for the said
A.W's payment for the said ensuing year at the rate of a week for the
purchase of a further annuity of [£ S d] a year to commence at his age of [ ]
in addition to the annual sum of [£ S d] being as I am informed, the
sum of the Superannuation Annuities already purchased by him.

[NB. If the amount of such annuities should have risen to the sum fixed upon by the
Governor as the minimum or least sum after the completion of which it shall be at the option
of such quondam Penitentiary Prisoner to continue purchasing additional annuities
or not, this article must at the request of the Ward be omitted.

6. In the event of my executing at any time in favour of my said Ward any Deed remitting
in whole or in part the power given to me over him by the said Assignment, I
will forthwith cause to be delivered to the said Governor or his Representation as aforesaid
a true Copy of every such Deed, attested as such as well by myself as by my said Ward.

7. In the event of my ceasing during the continuance of this my Guardianship, to
occupy the House I now occupy as abovementioned, or beginning to occupy another at any other
Place [if the Guardian be a woman add or marrying] I will within a week after
such cessation or commencement [or marriage] give advice thereof by Post of otherwise to
the Governor at the said Penitentiary House, and that in such manner that he may know
how to find me, and in particular how to cause a letter to reach me by the Post: and so
as often as any such cessation of commencement [or marriage] shall have taken place.

8. In the event of my said Ward's quitting his now intended place of abode as aforesaid, or
betaking himself to another, [if the Ward be a single woman add or marrying] I will also
thereof give like notice as aforesaid, and that in such manner that the Governor may
know how to find and direct to my said Ward as aforesaid: and so as before, as often as
such occasion shall arise.
