Deputation from the Justices of the Peace for the County of __________ in General Sessions to A.
J. one of the said Justices requiring him under the General Panopticon Penitentiary Act 34 Geo: 3.
Title.
Ch. _____ § _____ to take the Examination of A. W. of __________ in the said County touching the
Settlement of A. P. Penitentiary Man.

To A. J. of [ __________ ] Esquire one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the
County aforesaid, Greeting

Recitals viz:
1. Packets received —

1. Whereas at [this] Court we have received a Packet purporting to come from the Overseers

of the Poor for the Parish of __________ in the County of __________ and containing the
Papers which we herewith inclose to you and which are as follows: viz:

2. Contents.

1. A Paper marked A purporting to be a Petition for supplemental Examination from etc
2. A Paper marked B purporting to be an Order of Adjudication etc
3. A Paper marked C purporting to be the Examination on which such Adjudication was
grounded.
4. A Paper marked D containing Instructions for the taking of the Examination in the
said Petition prayed.

2. And Whereas according to the direction of the Statute aforesaid the Magistrate
deputed for the purpose of taking such Examination is required to be of the number of those
who live the nearest to the abode or supposed abode of the said intended Examinant, of any by
whom such business can with equal fitness & convenience be performed:

Deputing Clause

We therefore, understanding you the said A. J. to come within the description aforesaid,

do accordingly hereby depute and in his Majesty's name command you as follows, viz:

Directions: viz
1. To take Examination

1. To take the Examination of the said A. W. accordingly, and of any other persons within

this our County being or residing whose evidence may in consequence of such examination likely
to be material to the matter herewith given you in charge.

2. To observe the instructions.

2. In the taking of every such Examination to have regard to the Instructions aforesaid, so far
forth as the same may be proper and according to Law fit to be observed.
3. Of every such Examination when taken to transmitt to the said Overseers an original, or
else a true Copy by you attested as a true one.
4. — Permitting every such Examinant to take for his part a true Copy by you in like manner
attested, if he shall be so minded. And herein you will be pleased not to fail, as you will answer
the contrary at your peril.
