there situated, then in the right arm, in the left leg,
in one in default of another, in the order in which they
are here mentioned: the same, especially the arms,
being parts which are not habitually nor for the purposes
of labour or other necessary occasions require to be
exposed to view: and such marks may be made
(provided it be with as little pain or uneasiness as
may be) by puncture and the rubbing in of a
powder or fluid after the manner in use among
Seafaring men as aforesaid.
Art. 2. Any such identification-mark, or any

-- if impaired, restorable --
part thereof, should the same either by design or accident
be altered or defaced, may at any time, by order
of the Governor be restored, and that either on the
same or any other proper part, as circumstances may
require.
Art. 3. Whosoever with intent to defraud any

in respect thereof,
with intent to defraud --
person, shall alone or with others be concerned in obliterating,
altering or fabricating any such identification
mark or in making a fraudulent use of any such
obliteration, alteration or fabrication, or in attempting
so to do shall be deemed guilty of felony & be
committed to the Penitentiary House for seven years.
