Panopticon Bill. Personal Clauses

out exposing the same to the view and knowledge
of the public at large, & in particular of every person
who in case of success might become desirous of
practising or imitating the same much less could
such experiments within any moderate time or at
an expence within the compass of any moderate
fortune be multiplied and varied And Whereas
the said invention might be exposed to suffer
as well in reputation as in effect for want
of particular instructions from the inventor
adapted to the several purposes and cases to which
the same may be capable of being applied And
Whereas it would be of evil example if any
person were by reason of his exertions in the public
service to sustain any prejudice from which without
detriment either to the public or to individuals he
might be relieved Be it enacted that at any
time within two years from the date hereof the said
Samuel Bentham or in the event of his decease
within the said term, the said Jeremy Bentham
may obtain his Majesty's Letters Patent for the
purpose of securing to them the said Samuel or
the said Jeremy respectively & their respective
representatives for the usual time and on the usual terms the exclusive
right of practising the invention aforesaid.
