Lot) if to be had: but lest it should not, on the Salisbury Estate, at any time, on notice from the Lords Commissioners,
and payment of the first instalment for that
purpose.

Tothill Fields appropriated, how convenient! unappropriated,
how inconvenient! to all parties. — The map will

to see Mr Long on the subject mentioned in the ensuing
Letter, sent in my name accordingly. Answer, per Messenger,
begging my excuse that day, on account of particular business.
Went home — wrote & copied the Letter, announcing my attendance
for to day—returned with it, and was assured by the Messenger
of his having delivered it to Mr Long.

Saturday 5th April. At 10 Minutes after 12 send in my name to Mr Long. He saw it, but took no notice. At 3, the Messenger
told me Mr Long was gone, & (he imagined) would not return.
Knowing, as he now does, the object of my visit, it looks as
if that knowledge had put an end to the disposition.

His expressly declining to see me, was so great and
so rare a favour, that it put me in spirits, & made me
think he would see me another time. —

Went home full of spirits. His usual course has been
to take no notice. (a)
