17 Feb.y 1802 F14 11 Notes 62 §8 Establishment

F13

F14 (b) This part in Italian will be seen afterwards
adopted in substance: the concluding part, if presented
by Mr Nepean to Mr Long (which is what
I can not be sure about) was not adopted. It
would have been coming too near the fount. It
would have been an rendered the answer to my communicate
to my original letter on this subject addressed to Mr
Long (17 August 1799 F.1.) and would have engaged drawn
Honourable Gentlemen to a point at which they were
predetermined — never to arrive.

F14 (c) viz: the above mentioned letter of the 17th of
August.

F14 (d) A very material caution. The operation
of hunting might have staved enough to stave off the conclusion of the
business to for an indefinite time, even if the Honourable
Gentlemen had meant honestly: and by giving time
for recollection, it would have lost me the benefit
of taking scof Kin him surprize, which is benefit
which the value of which increased as the hope of
experiencing sincerity decreased.

F.15.(a) This intelligence had just been obtained
by me in an interview, with Mr Nepean. Mr
King, as well as Mr Long, Neither Mr King nor Mr Longhaving being It not
being very agreable at this time to to Mr King
any more than to Mr Long to hold conversation
on this subject with Mr Nepean, which still less with
me, thus writing was the only mode of communicating
with him I could make sure of.
