§ 11 Disarmed Memorial
For the encrease expenses of building, In the
application was made I applied to an Architect in the
Admiralty department under with the approbation of Mr Nepean. He
made out a calculation in which reckoning
from 1795, the ate of the preceding Estimate. The
calculation was given in to Mr Nepean, who examined
it, and approved of it.
The annual allowance for the rise, actual and probable in the price of provisions
was a matter of greater importance as well as
of greater difficulty. The expedient that occurred
to me in this view, is exhibited in the next
letter but one; which, having written it to
provide for the event of his not being accessible,
I took with me to the Admiralty, and being
admitted, delivered to him myself and talked over
with him.
The letter that here preceded it bears the same the letter to Mr Long for
date the £500 for obtaining present possession of an
a spot for the immediate site of the building, bears
I see the same date. It was if I mistake not at the suggestion
of Mr Nepean that I detached this demand
from the other demands that were in the Armed
Memorial and thereby cleared the Disarmed
Memorial of this comparatively inconsiderable rticle
of immediate exigence. Mr Nepean took it
of me, to deliver, at any proper opportunity,
to Mr Long.
