§ 11 Disarmed Memorial

I.8 (a) By "the Board", I think, I must have
meant – not the Board of Agriculture, but the
Treasury Board, from whom the answer, if any
to the my Memorial, for the purpose of which this
question was put, would have come. My object
was – to prevent any delay in any such second
answer from Mr Young, from being made use of
as a pretence by Mr for delay by Mr Long.

I.9 (a) Of this Memorial, two besides the fair copy
from which the letter press was taken, two I have preserved two
are in my possession preparatory copies, in which the changes it
underwent, in consequence of Mr Nepeans observations,
exhibit themselves to view – one of the copies
with containing a number of pencil corrections in his
hand.

I.9. (b) The words in Italicks shew the expedient
that occurrs presented itself for my
respect for Mr Nepean's recommendation, with the
necessity of self-defence, against the treachery
which was lying in wait for me, and which,
in its disposition Your Lordship will find laying hold of fastening upon me, at
last, by means of in spite of my teeth, and
throwing out by main force into the pit, because
I would not walk at into it.⊞ ⊞ See [ ]. The same
plan of precaution Your Lordship will find
pursued, in the next succeeding letter.
