§ 16 3 Jail Improvements
For an of the cost – of the economic of these
improvements, call the expence of my plan my expence of the Panopticon, unity.
Multiply this by 15, the number of times my expence
per head is multiplied by the expence per head of the
chief Middlesex of several Goals for the county of Middlesex:
Multiply this expence by 52 the number of Counties
in South Britain: throwing out in a greater
number all the other in Town Goals and other inferred
District J Gaols. Ultimate product, 780. There may would
be abatements to be made them from this number. I will neither
deceive you my Ord, nor haggle with you by the
half-quarter, the eighth part: strike off the first or the
last figure: Strike off the seven hundred, and call it but
80. Take number of inhabitants Put Middlesex on one
scale that all the other Counties together on the other:
take numbers of inhabitants, though that is not the subject
in question, instead of Ga numbers of Gaols. Take the
account upon any plan whatever that either Mr King or
Mr Long will pitch upon and abide. Say Something
between 80 78 and 780 times the expence of my a
plan set aside on the score of exorbitance is the plan price
which at which the above described improvements
