§ 14 Secret blabbed by King

so long before as October 1799 and upon my
asking Mr Long for a copy of the Duke's legislative
letter, the a refusal was given to that particular the communication of that particular article
of information was refused
application: and afterwards, so lately as the 28th of
June 1800, Your Lordship may recollect, the Treasury
Books were declared to be inaccessible to me. by which
means
But so long ago before as the 8th of April 1800 Mr Long had also declared himself
personally inaccessible to me, § 9. Vbf. and when Mr Nepean
asked him whether it was not so, he could
not deny it: and the whole remainder of the negotiation
proceeded upon that ground as well as the solemn
farce the premeditatedly useless conference with Mr White
proceeded upon that ground. Moreover so lately as the beginning of July (1800) Mr King
himself as Your Lordship may also recollect, Mr King upon repeated trials had been found steadily invariably
invisible to by me. Through Mr Nepean
the intercourse was rare, irregular, and altogether
casual, and nothing communicated to me but
in consequence of my own importunate sollicitation
nor then any otherwise than in the way of short form of general result
communicated by short
and general answers to my distressing question.
There was therefore a fixed plan – and a plan to
which Mr King was a party – that every thing
which it concerned me to know should be concealed
from me: accordingly and according to that plan every thing had
been concealed from me. It was by a letter of
his dated the 28th of July that he had fixed my
fate: it was by a letter received by him on the 25
of the next month (August 1800) that that fixation
had been entered and accepted. At that very
time it was then a twelvemonth that he himself
